Lawrence V. Duggan


Sgt Lawrence V. Duggan, HQ European Theater of Operations, United States Army, dated 16 August 1944 was initially reported MIA in France.


On 18 August Sgt. Duggan was listed as a casulty. Grave location is Brittany, France.


Sgt. Duggan, a member of the I&R Platoon, 101st Inf., was on advanced patrol in France where stiff enemy resistance was encountered. His platoon was ordered to withdraw, but he refused to withdraw because he desired to remain with his Platoon leader, Lt. Rosenbloom, who was at that time seriously wounded. At that time Sgt. Duggan had a slight arm wound. Soon afterwards heavy artillery was laid upn the two of them, both being killed instantly.
