2132nd Army Air Force Unit
Maxwell AAF, Alabama
2132nd Army Air Forces Base Unit was part of Pilot School, Special Very Heavy Bombardment, (B-29 Transition School), Maxwell AAF, AL. The base was part of the AAF Eastern Flying Training Command. The 2132nd had over thirty B-29 Superfortress bombers on strength. The unit trained pilots and crews who were transitioning to this aircraft. The training course on the B-29 was 5-weeks long. All squadron of the 2132nd AAFBU had a letter suffix (ie. Squadron H), as opposed to the usual number suffix. Col. R.E.L. Choate was the Commanding Officer of 2132 AAFBU during 1945.
