George Washington Hamilton Jr.

Sergeant Technician Fifth Grade


Served during WWII, in the US Army, from

February, 22 1939 - October 13, 1945


George served in Tunisia, Naples-Foggia, Rome-Arno, Southern France, Rhineland, Central Europe.


Awards/Medals included: European-African Middle Eastern Campaign Medal with Silver Service Star, Bronze Arrowhead, WWII Victory Medal, Good Conduct Medal, American Defense Service Medal, Marksman Badge w/Rifle Bar, Driver & Mechanics Badge.


After the War: George worked on the B&O Railroad as a yardmaster, a conductor, and a brakeman. He married Sara Shandorf Shives. He is survived by two daughters, eleven grandchildren, and 8 great grandchildren. He is buried at Greenridge Cemetery in Connellsville, Pennsylvania.
