Fred J. "Fritz" Krause, 92, of Connellsville, born May 6, 1923, was summoned to be with the Lord on Tuesday, June 23, 2015, surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Connellsville, a son of the late Fred and Elizabeth (Yauger) Krause. Fritz was a member of the Church of Christ, Connellsville. He was formerly employed by Anchor Hocking in the glass division for 25 years. Fritz enlisted in the U.S. 38th CK Army 151 1st Infantry in January 1943 under the command of General McArthur. He served proudly in combat with wisdom and courage. Fritz was awarded Combat Infantryman Badge, Good conduct Medal, WWII Victory Medal, Philippine Liberation Medal mounted with Bronze Star, American Campaign Medal, Asiatic Pacific Campaign Medal with three Bronze Stars, Meritorious Service Medal and the Purple Heart. Fritz was a loving son, husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend. Fritz will be sadly missed by his loving family. He is survived by his devoted wife of 72 years, Audrey Elaine (Ritenour) Krause, whom he dearly loved; sons, Larry Krause and wife, Diane, of Kittanning, Wayne Krause, of Connellsville, and Scott Krause and wife, Carey, of Connellsville; daughters, Linda Sankey, of Greensburg, Carole Kostik and husband, Joseph, of Connellsville, Nancy Komenda and husband, Stanley, of Connellsville, and Cathy Murphy, of Belle Vernon; a brother, Paul Krause and wife, Darlene, of Cleveland, Ohio; a very special

brother and sister-in-law; and grandchildren, Neil and Brian Sankey, Shelly Crothers, Jennifer Johnson, Isaiah and Leah Krause, Heidi and Amy Murphy, Melissa Komenda and Joshua Krause. Fritz will be especially missed by grandson, Scottie Krause. The special love and memories will be forever embraced. In addition to his parents, Fritz was preceded in death by his son, Tim Allen Krause; brothers, Walter, Jack and Herman Krause; and sisters, Bertha Weltz and Helen Henry. Fritz loved animals, especially his dog, Little Bear. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, holidays and flea markets. Fritz was respected and loved by all who knew him. The love for his wife of 72 years was a treasure like no other.

WITH THE 38TH DIVISION ON BATAAN. - Pfc. Fred J. Krause, son of Fred Krause, has been awarded the Combat Infantryman Badge, for his participation in the battle of Zig Zag Pass. Krause entered the Army in January 1943, and has been overseas more than a year. Pfc. Krause now holds the Good Conduct Medal, Philippines Liberation Ribbon and the Asiatic-Pacific Theater Ribbon with two Campaign Stars.
